The Stoney Meadow Inn Is On the ‘Crooked Road’


‘The Crooked Road’ is a route through the mountains of Virginia that covers the best venues for Appalachian, or mountain, music. It’s drawn large amounts of tourists since it was established in 2004.

The route winds through our section of Virginia, starting in Breaks and ending right next door in Rocky Mount. A recent article in the NY Times travel section explains:

The Road isn’t one single highway — it’s a roughly 300-mile series of interconnected two-lane byways and long stretches of Route 58, which skims Virginia’s North Carolina and Tennessee borders all the way to Kentucky. The sound here is Appalachian: mountain music.”
